- By default, Root account is not active on Mac OSX. Here is how to enable Root acount on your Mac OSX.
- Go to Utility folder, double click on Netinfo Manager
- Click on Autheticate.. menu or padlock to unlock current id.
- Enter you current password at the prompt to authenticate..
- You can see that the padlock is unlock.
- Click on Security –> Enable Root User to enable Root user now.
An alert informs that password for Root is current blank. - Enter a new password for Root.
Note: Make sure you put a note for your own about this password. - Enter new password twice to confirm.
Done. You should see Disable Root User on the Security menu.
Now, you can go to terminal to switch current it to root account by using command su
